Professor Stephen Schey

After qualifying at St George’s Hospital and working in Australia at the Institute of Clinical Pathology and Medical Research, Sydney, he returned to the UK to work at the Royal Free Hospital as the Bone Marrow Transplant Co-ordinator before becoming the Transplant Co-ordinator at the Royal Marsden Hospital. He completed his training at the Middlesex Hospital and took up a consultant post at Guy’s Hospital where he served as Director of Clinical Haematology from 1993-2004 before moving to King’s College Hospital in 2005.

He was Secretary of the UK Myeloma Forum and Chairman from 2003 until 2009 and is currently the Research Lead for the SE Thames Cancer Network, a member of the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Haematoncology Cancer Steering Group and the NCRI Industry Adoption Panel. He has been Chief Investigator and Co-investigator for many clinical trials and the Chairman of the NCRI Myeloma Clinical Trials Committee for 6 years until April 2010.He has published over 100 peer reviewed and review articles on haematological malignancies and has been author and co-editor on a number of books. He is currently President of the British Society of Haematology, Lead Clinician at Kings College Hospital for Clinical Myeloma and Translational Research and Professor of Plasma Cell Dyscrasias at Kings College University of London. He combines an interest in service delivery with clinical research in haematological malignancies.
