Howard Stevens QC

Profile

Howard's practice is broadly based but consists mainly of common law work, in particular personal injury and travel related litigation, including jurisdiction and conflict issues. He acts for claimants and defendants/insurers in equal measure and has particular experience of cases involving severe brain and spinal injury, and of group litigation. He is regularly instructed in connection with inquests, and has represented interested parties in a number of high profile inquests arising from deaths abroad. 

Additionally, Howard undertakes a broad range of appellate work in the Privy Council, including constitutional, judicial review, human rights, commercial, criminal and extradition cases. He has a particular interest in the Constitutions of the Commonwealth jurisdictions and is regularly instructed by Governments. He has appeared before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in Costa Rica.
